Victoria, BC, Canada • Day 9
sunny with clouds
Alarm first started ringing at 05:00, although I really couldn’t climb up until 05:21, where we hurriedly packed some necessities and set off at 06:02 for the Tsawwassen ferry terminal.
06:30 Barely made it early for the first 07:00 ferry. Although I wanted to get a hot tea, that was not to be, and we hurriedly grabbed a bottled drink from a souvenir shop because announcements for vehicle boarding had started and included “…immediately” and “…increases the chance of the next car boarding…”. Although we were on the third row, we made it safely onto the upper vehicle berth (lower one being usually oversized vehicles).
08:12 The scene from BC ferries as it crosses between Vancouver and Victoria is breathtaking, and I almost forgot this beauty that I took for granted back then and now yearn to return to. Granted it’s still nippy in early June, but how could I pass by the chance to attempt a capture of it. It’s a beauty that even a photo cannot express (maybe just my skill level).
09:01 Got to Hillside Mall, in search of McDs but looks like even their food court got renovated, doubled in size, and got rid of McD. So we “drove” across the road to the McD opposite. Got my McGriddle meal and kelly got a breakfast burrito.
11:35 Pastor Poon’s sermon. Our goal was to make it to 10:00 sermon but that was not to be, did they shift the times a bit? Oh well, at least we got to sit back in the car and huddle up and chat awhile in the car.
Worship 09:00
國語崇拜 10:25
粵語崇拜 11:35
So happy that Pastor Poon and Mrs Poon and everyone still remembers us. And somehow, being back here, feels like we’re really home.
13:50 Victoria Sushi. Joined Joshua fellowship for lunch, we had a spicy salmon roll combo and beef teriyaki combo. Not bad at all, looks like something we can come often to if we’re back in Victoria… Oh! what a comfortable train of thoughts…
14:59 Sam took us to Auntie Judy’s place, the place where we’re staying tonight. She served us really good pu’er 普洱 tea and Ferrero Rocher chocolates. Also met her other roommate, a comp sci 學弟 of mine, hahaha, it’s almost embarrassing to admit that piece of life history.
15:37 Drove around UVic and where we used to live, reminiscent of those carefree days of university. We were gonna drive by Mt Doug high but only remembered one route, hence we gave up after missing it. Poor Kelly, next time, we’ll go next time.
16:28 Swartz Bay terminal. Drove Kelly back to the terminal as she has work tomorrow and had to make the ferry home tonight. But i’m still happy she was willing to come with us for a short day trip, hehe!! thanks~ ^^3. But because of our short notice, seems like everyone is busy and couldn’t make dinner…
18:12 Lot 1 pasta bar. Since not many could make it to dinner, we had a nice dinner at Lot 1 while chatting and catching up with Cedric and Sam. Shared a large size pasta, Prawn carbonara $13/17 (tagliatelle, prawns, smoked bacon, onion, chill flakes, basil, parsley, egg yolk, parmesan) and Pesto chicken radiatori $13/17 (radiator, free range chicken, sundries tomatoes, artichokes, onions, basil pesto cream, parmesan), and some appetisers, deep friend three cheese ravioli $9 (parmesan, ricotta, goat cheese, house tomato sauce) and Sambal prawns $12 (prawns, sambal, roasted garlic, chorizo, white wine, warm breadstick). Thanks Cedric, next meal is on us!!!!
20:55 Cedar Hill X timmies at 20:00, just a great meet up over hot chocolate, maple dip donut and timbits (wish i wasn’t so full, so miss those timbits now!!!). Sarah, Angie, Roxie, Sam, Beiyan, Keiyan, Steph, Bunbun, Gwyn, Thank you guys for showing up despite your super busy schedules~!! Love you guys!!!!
22:44 Finally had to say goodbye, to Keiyan’s “走啦,著長褲既女人…” XDDDD. Drove ourselves back to Auntie Judy’s and after a quick shower, fell into deep sleep…
