Vancouver, BC, Canada • Day 6
Somehow, more than half the week has gone by in a blink of an eye. Well, it was my fault for wanting to just chill around, but yeah, I guess it’s time I got a move on with meeting my dear friends! Although I’m totally in holiday mood, most of my friends are still working, so although my evenings were scheduled tight, my daytimes felt relatively free. However, that makes it THAT much harder to wake up bright and early.
Breakfast was a quick thing at 7-11, with two pepperoni pizza and a hash brown for CAD$2.84. Had to gobble it down in fear of a bus coming, but then I got thirsty afterwards, so we got a Arizona, except the bus really did drive by just as we were paying. Just my luck. At least we left earlier.
11:00 Bus 49 to UBC. The bus took quite a while,
11:47 UBC, their new aquatic building. Met up with Mic Ha, and had a great lunch time at UBC student union building just chatting and catching up. Just feeling old watching my high school buddies getting married and having not just the first, but their second son delivered! Wow!
12:50 Bus to Commercial station, skytrain to Metrotown. Was taught a quicker alternative from UBC to Metrotown, as I’d probably have just taken the #49 bus back.
14:00 Met up with June, another high school buddy from a totally different era, (ahem, area!). Haha! It’s always nice to have girl shopping time, and I really appreciate this girl for always remembering me!!
18:27 The rain finally let up and we decide to go downtown, as I have been in Metrotown for three days in a row, haha! Forgot what bus we took, because I pretty much dozed off the whole trip.
18:50 Abercrombie at Pacific Place. Had to visit my favourite clothing store, haha! It’s a shame they had to close down the HK branch. Found a dress quite my style but was tad expensive for something I feel I had a similar one of, so I passed it up (who’d have known the next time I came here again, it was out of my size and on the discount rack already!!)
19:39 Santouka 火頭山.
Address: 1690 Robson street, Vancouver, BC, V6G 1C7.
Website: https://www.santouka.co.jp/en/
Apparently the best ramen in Vancouver, and it was quite delish. The gyoza wasn’t bad either!
21:09 Cheesecake etc.
Address: 2141 Granville Street, Vancouver, BC, V6H 3E9.
Hours: 7PM ~ 1AM
A dimly lot specialty coffee and dessert place with their signature cheesecake and jazz music. Um, no live music while we were there, but there is a grand piano in the main room and the atmosphere seems nice for if they do perform.
The cheese cake is fluffy, really fluffy, and has no graham cracker crust (apparently their signature recipe). I had a chocolate one with blueberries, Kinhi had their normal Cheesecake with whip cream. Both were pretty good, but not as cheesy as I’d like it.
Took the skytrain to Edmonds Station and Enoch drove us home. It’s been such a long time since I’ve had to take public transport, and at such a “late hour” in Vancouver, heh!
